Lee Rhodes was elected as Policy Officer for Stratford on Avon Constituency Labour Party in November 2020.
Lee says, ‘We will be building on Keir Starmer’s 10 policy pledges in a way that is fit for the 2024 general election. These pledges form the backbone of a great vision for our nation. An agenda that can inspire all, and support those who under the current government, are left behind. I have already done my training for the role of Policy Officer but currently, the Forum is closed for new submissions. I am making enquiries at HQ about the work I can be doing while the new policy documents for review are selected.
What I will do soon is work with ALL members to put our contribution into the development of this policy platform; and ensure we make an attractive ‘offer’ to the electorate in future elections. This will take the form of consultation meetings, guest speakers and panels etc. In the current environment, I foresee that we will do this work on Zoom but, that at least means that more of us should be able to attend as travel will be unnecessary. Don’t be surprised also if there is work to do with our local communities and subject matter experts from our constituency. We have an opportunity to engage with the electorate in the policy we develop and the people it will impact. I see this as a very exciting opportunity!
So, watch this space and as soon as we have some materials to work with, I will be arranging a meeting and identifying background resources to help us start to develop policy.’
