NHS Crisis – 28,767 waiting across South Warks NHS Foundation Trust, almost 1 in 8 of us now stuck on record NHS waiting lists across England
The latest NHS waiting lists figures reveal an all-time high, 6.8m waiting for care in England alone – almost 1 in 8 of the population.
Across South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust, 28,767 are waiting for care – just 72% are seen within 18 weeks, well short of the NHS 92% target.
The Conservatives cannot blame the pandemic for their failure. NHS waiting lists were already at a then record 4.2m in March 2020 before the pandemic struck – significantly up from 2.5m in 2010. And what’s more, even Conservative Cabinet Ministers accept that under the Tories, ‘pandemic preparation was found wanting and inadequate.’
Responding to the data, Stratford Labour’s Lee Rhodes said,
“The longer the Conservatives are in power, the longer people in AREA will have to wait for care. These aren’t just statistics, every single person waiting longer is a person suffering more pain and discomfort than they should.
“The people of South Warwickshire are tired of being let down by this government. Waiting lists were soaring before the pandemic struck and they are getting longer and longer and longer.
“From the cost of living, to backlog Britain, our country has been badly let down by more than a decade of failure. Twelve years of Conservative rule has left our NHS in crisis, but Labour has a plan. The next Labour government will ensure that our health service has the staff, equipment and modern technology to provide the care we need.
