People from all across the country have joined Labour to make sure their voice is heard and to work together to create a country that works for everyone.

Who we are

The Labour Party is a century old political organisation, born out of the trade union movement and built on equality, social justice and compassion. We are a movement of over half a million members working to elect a Government that puts those shared values into action.

Stratford on Avon Labour Party represents the hundreds of Labour Party members who live across the constituency. We are responsible for campaigning locally for both council and parliamentary elections as well as championing local issues that matter to residents. We also support local members who would like to stand for election. We arrange meetings, talks and social events for members who also have the opportunity to access training, attend conferences and shape national policy.

What can I do if I join?

As a Labour member, you’ll be a key part of our diverse movement of over half a million people, dedicated to delivering a fairer, better society. You’ll also have a say in our policy and have the opportunity to vote in internal elections.

We’ll provide you with all the tools and resources to get involved in events, campaign days and rallies and introduce you to a huge movement of other like-minded members. And if you want to one day, you can even stand for election as an official Labour Party candidate.

We've been welcoming a steady flow of new members from across the area and it's great to see them getting involved in all aspects of the party, from campaigning to attending meetings and socials and even standing in local elections. Cat Price, Treasurer, Stratford on Avon CLP

Membership FAQs

Why do people join?

People join the party for hundreds of different individual reasons – from being fed up with the status quo or wanting to make a difference in their local community to wanting to shape policy and have a say in the direction of the Labour Party.

Am I eligible to join?

If you’re 14 or over, not a member of another political party, and are a British citizen or have lived in the UK for a year or more, then absolutely; come on in. We need your passion, your experience and your voice in our movement.

How much does it cost?

Most members pay our standard rate of £5.25 a month and many choose to pay more to support our campaigns. There are also reduced rates available for young people, unwaged and those working less than 16 hours.

    Where is my money going?

We’re built on the contributions of our many dedicated members. Your membership fees pay for the posters, leaflets, rallies and events that you see up and down the country. Every penny is put to good use. Without our members’ contributions, we simply wouldn’t be able to run the Labour Party.

    What happens after I join?

Keep an eye out for a membership pack in the post. Your membership card is in there – along with a whole host of useful information about what you can get involved in. As soon as that arrives, you’ll be a card-carrying member of the Labour Party.
