Stratford upon Avon Constituency Labour Party is divided into three Branches. If you live in any of the wards listed below which make up Stratford Town, then you are automatically a member of the Stratford Town Branch:
Avenue, Hathaway, Bishopton, Shottery, Bridgetown, Tiddington, Clopton, Welcombe, Guildhall
The Branch Team members (see below) are committed to operating in an open and inclusive way, ensuring that all members are welcome. Members are encouraged to take an active part in meetings, fund raising, campaigning and social events. A wide range of opinions are expressed at meetings, and members are expected to treat others with respect and to accept decisions made democratically at Branch Meetings.
In the past year the Branch has had guest speakers including:
County Councillor Richard Chattaway, leader of the Labour Group on Warwickshire County Council, speaking about how the Labour group will move forward now the Tories have an overall majority on the County Council
County Councillor Matt Western as he was then, but now MP for Warwick and Leamington, speaking about the threat to the NHS from the Sustainability and Transformation Plans being pushed through without any meaningful consultation with or involvement of the public.
Other topics have included a member of CAB speaking on homelessness and housing issues in Stratford, a NASUWT Union Official speaking on Academy Schools and MATS, and Big Issue staff explaining their work..
Social and Fundraising Events
The quiz night held on Friday 9th November 2018 at the Stratford Sports Club was won by Ted Spicer’s ‘Loony Tunes’ team from Shipston Branch and we raised £239 for our campaign fund.
