Stratford upon Avon Constituency Labour Party is divided into three Branches. If you live in any of the wards listed below which make up Stratford Town, then you are automatically a member of the Stratford Town Branch:
Avenue, Hathaway, Bishopton, Shottery, Bridgetown, Tiddington, Clopton, Welcombe, Guildhall
The Branch Team members (see below) are committed to operating in an open and inclusive way, ensuring that all members are welcome. Members are encouraged to take part in Branch activities which normaly include meetings, fund raising, campaigning and social events. Obviously our activities are limited during the Covid pandemic and meetings are being held via Zoom.
County Council Elections May 6th:
There are three County Council Divisions in Stratford Town: Stratford North, Stratford South and Stratford West and we will have candidates standing in each.
We have now started telephone canvassing where we meet up in Zoom and use the Labour Party ‘Dialogue’ telephone system. This is an easy to use system which means that we do not pay for calls and our own number is not displayed to those we call. We now need as many volunteers as possible to help us contact residents to identify Labour voters ready for the May 6th election. Will you volunteer for an hour or so to help at a future telephone canvasing session? It will take around 15/20 minutes to introduce you to the system over Zoom, and after that you stay or leave whenever you wish. The next sessions planned are:
Tuesday 16th February 6p.m-7.30 p.m.
Saturday 20th February 10.30-12.30 p.m.
Please email Bob at: firstname.lastname@example.org for details if you can help.
Branch meetings are held four times a year and in the recent past guest speakers have included county councillors, our Police and Crime Commisioner candidate and people working with housing and homelessness issues. The next Branch meeting will be a Zoom meeting as follows:
Tuesday 9th March 7.30 p.m. Guest Cllr. John Holland, County Councillor for Warwick West
Cllr. Holland will update us on key Warwickshire County Council issues, including proposals for one or two unitary authorities in Warwickshire and we will also be introducing our candidates for the County Elections. A Zoom link will be sent to Branch members in early March.
Social and Fundraising Events
Our social and fundraising activites are ‘on hold’ at present but do meet up with and get to know colleagues through our Zoom Branch meetings or our Zoom telephone canvassing sessions.
The current Branch Team was elected at the Branch AGM on 1st December 2020. They are all contactable by emailing email@example.com.
