Stratford upon Avon Constituency Labour Party is divided into three Branches. If you live in any of the wards listed below which make up Stratford Town, then you are automatically a member of the Stratford Town Branch:
Avenue, Hathaway, Bishopton, Shottery, Bridgetown, Tiddington, Clopton, Welcombe, Guildhall
The Branch Team members (see below) are committed to operating in an open and inclusive way, ensuring that all members are welcome. Members are encouraged to take part in Branch activities which normaly include meetings, fund raising, campaigning and social events. Obviously our activities are limited during the Covid pandemic and meetings are being held via Zoom.
County Council Elections May 6th:
There are three County Council Divisions in Stratford Town: Stratford North, Stratford South and Stratford West and we will have candidates standing in each.
Alexander Monk is standing for us in Stratford South and Wayne Bates in Stratford West. Our target Division, and the one where we will be making most effort is Stratford North where Samantha (Sam) Scott is representing Labour.
We have now started telephone canvassing to support Sam where we meet up on Zoom and use the Labour Party ‘Dialogue’ telephone system. This is an easy to use system which means that we do not pay for calls and our own number is not displayed to those we call. We now need as many volunteers as possible to help us contact residents to identify Labour voters ready for the May 6th election. Will you volunteer for an hour or so to help at a future telephone canvasing session? It will take around 15/20 minutes to introduce you to the system over Zoom, and after that you stay or leave whenever you wish.
The Zoom telephone canvassing meetings will be every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 6 p.m to 7 p.m beginning on the 14th March Zoom link: https://zoom.us/j/94393396357?pwd=N2ZnV3I1QWphNis0WTdDRzF0NXZkUT09
Meeting ID: 943 9339 6357
Please email email@example.com if you are willing to help.
Branch meetings are held four times a year and in the recent past guest speakers have included county councillors, our Police and Crime Commisioner candidate and people working with housing and homelessness issues. The next Branch meeting will be a Zoom meeting as follows:
Wednesday 9th June 7.30 p.m.
The agenda will include discusion on ‘how did we do’ in the County Election campaign.
Social and Fundraising Events
Our social and fundraising activites are ‘on hold’ at present but do meet up with and get to know colleagues through our Zoom Branch meetings or our Zoom telephone canvassing sessions. We hope to resume our tradition of fundraising quiz evenings soon and have tentatively planned our next one for Friday 24th September, providing conditions allow.
